What are the main objectives of the project, and who will benefit from it? The ITT-Africa School of Health Science, Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Innovation project, is a transformative educational initiative in Bugiri, Uganda. The project aims to address critical local challenges—such as high unemployment, inadequate healthcare, limited digital literacy, and lack of entrepreneurial skills—by providing targeted education and training in health sciences, entrepreneurship, and technology. ITT-Africa envisions itself as a leading institution that equips students with practical skills for sustainable development, empowering them to become community change-makers and global contributors. Main Objectives of the Project Provide Quality Education and Training: Develop a curriculum focused on health sciences, entrepreneurship, and technology to meet local (Uganda) and continental(Africa) job market demands and foster self-employment. Promote Digital Literacy and Access: Equip students and community members with essential digital skills and internet access to bridge the technology gap. Enhance Community Health Knowledge: Educate students on health practices, hygiene, and preventive care to improve overall community health and reduce disease transmission. Support Economic Empowerment: Foster entrepreneurship and small business development to generate local employment opportunities and stimulate economic growth. Advance Sustainability and Innovation: Cultivate a culture of sustainability by integrating friendly environmental practices into the curriculum and promoting lifelong learning and innovation. Beneficiaries Youth and Adults in Bugiri: Students will gain skills that improve their employability, create self-employment opportunities, and foster community leadership. Healthcare Workers and Community Health Advocates: Health-focused programs will equip graduates to promote and implement better health practices within the community. Local Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses: Aspiring business owners will benefit from entrepreneurial training, mentorship, and potential access to small grants for business startups. Roles and Responsibilities of the Host Rotary Club: Local Project Management: The host club and ITT-Africa will handle the oversight, including coordinating with local stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers. Community Engagement: Host club members will play a vital role in engaging the community, promoting awareness about the project’s objectives, and encouraging local participation. They will also work closely with ITT-Africa and community leaders to gain trust and support. Monitoring and Reporting: They will Regularly monitor and truck the project's progress. The host club will be responsible for reporting updates to the international sponsor club, documenting milestones, and identifying any challenges. Resource Allocation and Use: Will Manage funds received from the international sponsor, overseeing that resources are used efficiently, and ensuring transparency in financial matters. Training and Capacity Building: Depending on the project’s needs, the host club and ITT-Africa will coordinate training sessions for partners, especially to manage facilities, maintain equipment, or handle specific aspects like internet and computer usage. Roles and Responsibilities of the International Sponsoring Rotary Club: Funding and Resource Mobilization: The international club will lead in securing funding, through grants, fundraising, and donations from partner organizations, to ensure the project has the financial resources needed for completion. Technical Assistance and Expertise: The International club will identify specialized knowledge, technology, and equipment that will benefit the project. They will offer expertise in project management, educational technology, and health initiatives to support ITT-Africa’s vision. Monitoring and Support Visits: Members of the sponsoring club will periodically visit (if feasible) to offer hands-on support, assess project progress, and strengthen partnerships. This involvement will foster mutual understanding and improves accountability. Capacity-Building Workshops: The international club will organize virtual or in-person workshops, particularly on best practices in education, technology use, and entrepreneurship, which align with ITT-Africa’s objectives. Describe the role that international Rotarians will have in this project. The partnership between the host and international Rotary club for the ITT-Africa project was established through personal connections with a Rotarian who originally comes from the host country, enhancing mutual understanding and alignment on project goals.
