The benifitting community is kakinada , a town in Andhra Pradesh , India and a few villages around Kakinada . The percentage of educated adults specially in villages around kakinada is very low . A minimum education is needed for every person to survive in this world . The Rotatab is very easy to carry and the content will be in local language - Telugu . This will help the Adults to understand the content ( pleaee see the documents attached ) .

On proper survey of the community around our home town , we understood that before we go ahead with awarness programs kike Health , water and Sanitation , mother and child care and other important subjects , we should see that tge people sholud have minimum education .Their understanding ability shoukd increase .

The Government of India (GOI) launched the Saakshar Bharat Mission, a flagship programme, on 8th September, 2009 (International Literacy Day). Saakshar Bharat strives to create a literate environment that bolsters and sustains a literate society and provides ample opportunities for continuous improvement in the levels of adult literacy. The programme aims at raising the overall literacy rate, reduce the gender gap and minimizing the regional, social and gender disparities in the literacy level throughout the country.

The Scheme Has Four Broad Objectives:

I Basic Literacy To impart functional literacy and numeracy to non-literate and non- numerate adults.

II Basic Education To enable new literate adults to continue their learning beyond basic literacy and acquire equivalency to formal educational system.

III Vocational Skills To impart relevant skill development programmes to improve earning and living conditions.

IV Continuing Education To promote a learning society by providing opportunities for continuing education.March 2010 onwards.

Mid-Day Meal Scheme

Midday Meal Scheme is being implemented in the State from January 2003 to the children of classes I to VII and to the children of classes VIII to X from October, 2008.

The main objectives of the program are to improve Nutritional status and to motivate the children to attend the school regularly, provide Nutritional Support to the children. During 2009-10, 86.07 lakh children are covered under this program. Out of which, 46.89 lakh are in Primary (I to V), 23.77 lakh in Upper Primary (VI to VIII) and 14.21 lakh children in High Schools (IX and X).

India is a devloping country with a large number of the population below 30 years of age . Youth is back bone of any country .Hence all the citizens have to be educated .

This project is planned for a town called kakinada and for villages around kakinada . It has been identified that many adults in this area , nearly 30 % of the population can hardly write their names , leave aside reading and writing .

Once the area we identified is totakky literate,a committee will be formed in eaxh of the village which will be called Rotary Community Corps (RCC).

RCC is a group of Non-Rotarians who share our commitment to service. RCC members plan and carry out projects in their communities and support local Rotary ckub projects.

Once an RCC is formed the following projects will be planned

1.The members of RCC will survey on what the community needs are.

2.Once the community needs are identified, the members will priotise the needs and help the community and make the villages "HAPPY VILLAGE".

Broad Base of Community Involvement

Communities offered a wide range of resources that are valuable to schools and the families they serve. These resources include people who volunteer their time in the school, organizations that offer enrichment opportunities, businesses that offer career-related information and workplace experiences, and agencies that provide various social services for students and families. Communities too are rich in untapped resources that can benefit children.Families and community members have assured to volunteer their time and talent in the schools This will ensure both schools and students increase their capacity to do more and to do it better.

One of the areas of focus of Rotary is Education . Once the community is totally literate , they will directly or indirectly help India grow .

The immediate out come of the project will be very benificial to the benificiaries. They will be able to read and write in their local language - telugu.

As time passes, the community will be total literate and follow proper ways of life . Blind beliefs will be a history .

The involved parties be it Rotarians or non- Rotarians will form a committee and keep on surveying at regular intervals to ensure that when the committee comes acriss any uneducated , the committee willtake neccessary action .
