There is only one government health clinic for this population. The main economic activity in this area is subsistence farming. 2. What community needs have been identified? Lack of healthcare services as the only public clinic is open only 8 hours during day and is often under stocked with medicines and understaffed The local women have very low incomes and majority have on average 3 children under five years REHEMA MEDICAL CENTER & MATERNITY HOME a charity owned clinic offers healthcare to suppli=ement community needs and requires upgrading to meet the demand 3. Rural empowerment on health Management (REHEMA) a community based health organization with subscription from community members has led several community initiatives including provision of roller barrels to help children deliver water to their homes in time so they can have enough time for school. The organization with community participation established REHEMA MEDICAL CENTER & MATERNITY HOME a 24 hour clinic that offers medical and maternity services to the clinic including community health education and outreaches. 1. Summarize the proposed activity(ies) in 250 words or less, including the need it will address, the intended beneficiary(ies), and the potential benefits to the community. 1.To increase access to antenatal care and childbirth services in community through community mobilization and outreaches 2.To improve the quality of childbirth healthcare provided by REHEMA MEDICAL CENTER & MATERNITY HOME by constructing a fully functional labor suite through the renovation and equipping the health clinic with emergence obstetric equipment. 3.To increase the utilization and uptake of general healthcare services by the community through Community sensitiztion 4.To set up community outreaches to enhance community engagement as a tool to increase health seeking behavior 5. The community members are part of the governing council of REHEMA MEDICAL CENTER& MATERNITY HOME The community members are as well involved as village health team members attached to the clinic helping in community mobilization for behavior change. 4.
