RC of Alexandria Cosmopolitan plans to purchase and install 10 computer workstations for blind women and girls. These stations would be linked to a Braille printer and each would feature screen reader software (voice articulation of printed content), enabling blind users to read, research, chat and otherwise connect through the internet. This project will take place at El-Nour Society for Blind Girls, which is allocated in Alexandria. The club plans to purchase and install a computer laboratory at a new facility the Society has built to provide computer-assisted learning opportunities to blind girls and women in Alexandria.
The project includes purchase of 10 computer workstations; 10 licenses for screen reader software; a networked Braille printer; furnishings, installation costs and a 6-month DSL subscription.
