This is a legacy project of a young Club which was chartered in February 2004. The Rotary Club of Chatsworth High Noon is undertaking a four-pronged approach to a wellness centre in its local community based in Chatsworth, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. The local community of 400 000 people are generally from a low to average income stream. The high incidence of diabetes results in many patients suffering from renal (Kidney) failure. Most of them are unable to afford treatment and are turned away from Government hospitals due to lack of funding. The Rotary Club in conjunction with a specialised service provider will provide free medical care to these individuals. Premises have been secured and renovated from local funds and major fundraising initiatives of the Club. The Club now wishes to purchase three renal machines which will provide dialysis for these patients and improve their quality of life enabling the majority of them to return to work and hence support their families. The local supplier of these machines has agreed to "donate" one machine for each machine purchased provided that the necessary consumables are purchased from them. The Rotary Club has the local funding ($19000) for three machines and wishes for an overseas partner ($19000) to match these funds with RI ($19000) through a MG. The full MG of $57000 will be used to purchase the three machines and install the water reticulation system required for such medical care. Clubs who are able to assist or wish to obtain further information can send DGE Natty Moodley an email on natty@iafrica.com
