The project sets as a goal the acquisition of 200 sheep and 12 rams of Tzurcana breed (sheep with long wool). The animals will be given to 20 families in Bocsa, district of Salaj, according to the HPI (Heifer Project International) model.
The beneficiaries of the projects are families that earn their living from raising animals. For the selection of the beneficiaries, the income of the families, the number of children, the experience and the necessary conditions for raising animals has been taken into account.
Each family will get 10 sheep, then the first two times when the ewes have lambs, the families will donate (by passing of the gift) 10 female lambs to another family. The selection of the beneficiaries will be made by a committee constituted from: the mayor, the vet, a representative of Rotary Club Zalau, a representative of the Agapis Foundation (that will provide technical assistance in the project implementation, as it has a rich experience in HPI projects in Romania) and a farmer. This committee will also monitor the progress of the project. |
