The surgery will take place in specialized hospitals in Kolkata, Durgapur and Shillong but the identification of the children will be done from the whole of R.I.Dist.3240.

The project will benefit about 100 children who are born with defective heart and who are from economically weak background.

Status and Progress Information

Dropped

This project has been dropped. This is probably due to the loss of contact with the Coordinating Club. Project listed for the 2010-11 Rotary Year.

Unless they’re cured with the help of surgery, these children grow up very weak and die premature death. We can prevent this by timely intervention and corrective surgery.

Normally any heart surgery requires a lot of money and most of the people from low income back ground cannot afford this. We propose to take up the case of hundred such children from the whole of our district and get them operated in specialized hospitals in Kolkata and other places at a subsidized rate. We can give these children a normal healthy and meaningful life to live after the surgery.

I have already talked with one of the doctors of specialized Hospitals in Kolkata who is involved in such work and he has readily agreed to help our cause by getting the surgery done at the rate of 50% of the normal rate which would come to around $1500 instead of normal rate of $3000.
