   Uganda - Jinja

Health Care Ambulance

$60,000

St Francis Health Care Centre is located about 5 kms from Jinja. It caters for the care of over 10,000 HIV / AIDS patients who come for regular medical check-ups and treatment. The clients who are too sick to travel to the Health Care Centre are supposed to be visited by the doctors and social workers. The current ’ambulance’ is an elderly minibus that is not able cope with the poor earth & mud roads in the rural areas, hence many needy clients either are not visited or the medical teams have to walk long distances in muddy conditions.

A 4 wheel-drive Toyota Land-Cruiser Ambulance would enable more clients to be visited more easily and the required medical attention given. The Land-Cruiser is the choice of the aid agencies in East Africa due to its strength and reliability. Spare parts are readily available in Uganda.
