JUSTIFICATIVE

Founded in March 22, 1973, when the first directory staff and statute were established and the name Escola de Educação Especial “Cantinho Feliz” (“Happy Place” Specialized School of Education) was chosen by the community students.

In 1974, the School was moved to a rented building with better conditions to attend the students and the increasing number of employees and teachers. In the period from 1974 to 1978, was acquired all the documents from the Competent Government Offices to provide the working authorization using the name “Associação de Pais e Amigos dos Excepcionais de Jandaia do Sul – APAE (Association of Fathers and Friends of Special Students of Jandaia do Sul) responsible for the maintenance of the “Escola de Educação Especializada Cantinho Feliz”.

In 1979, the Rotary Club of Jandaia do Sul constructed a building in the place donated by the Municipal City Hall, designed to attend to 65 students.

During the all these years the School from time to time was enlarged to attend to the rising number of students. Today the School has about 6300 square feet.

In 1997, the school was awarded with a Matching Grants Project from International Rotary to acquire the equipments for the Physiotherapy Room.

In 2006, the Rotary Club of Jandaia do Sul donated funds for the building maintenance, acquisition of wheel chairs and equipment for the Physiotherapy Room.

In 2007, the Rotary Club of Jandaia do Sul donated more equipment for the Physiotherapy Room.

The mission of the “Happy Place” Specialized School of Education is offer high quality education to the students, considering their characteristics and necessities, giving conditions of relevant learning in order to turn them into valorous citizens.

The School counts on a staff, including specialized teachers, technicians, administrative personnel and maintenance workers, to attend about 130 students. Most of these students are poor and live far away (country side), and then the School has to supply transportation using a minibus, which was given in a loan scheme by the state government. This vehicle has nine seats that are insufficient to efficiently attend to all students, demanding many trips to drop them off at the school. In order to accomplish the entrance hour, the first trip has to be so early that the school has to provide special personnel to attend to the students during the waiting time.

Considering the facts listed above, the School requests funds to acquire a proper vehicle for their necessities. This project is very important so that School can offer better life quality and safe transport to all students.
