Aid for ChildHeaded Households

$24,000

The epicentre of the HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa is our Province of KwaZuluNatal where it has caused the death of parents resulting in many Child Headed Households (CHH's). LifeLine Durban, a non profit organisation with many years' experience in the field, is looking to undertake a Community Based Mentorship Project to meet the needs of these CHH's. It utilises the service of volunteer youth mentors who will be monitored by LifeLine trained supervisors. The project will take place within 5 underpriviledged communities peripheral to the city of Durban.

The budget allows for subsistence and travelling for a 10 day LifeLine HIV/AIDS training course for 5 groups of 25 mentors and a further 8 day LifeLine Personal Growth course for both mentors and 5 supervisors.

The number of CHH's is on the increase in each area but the project aims to touch the lives of some 1500 children and youths.
