 The goal of this project is transforming an African Canadian Immigrant into a typical Canadian. There are four objectives to this
Objective 1: To recognize culture as one of the many ways the endemic population has chosen to prevent and fight HIV/AIDS.
Objective 2: To educate by creating awareness in the Canadian society about the serious nature of HIV/Aids virus, how fast the virus is spreading in our Canadian society and its consequent results locally, in Africa and other parts of the world;
Objective 3: Identify barriers of communication between immigrant youth and local community.
Objective 4:To develop a sustainable approach for continuity about the current HIV/AIDS awareness project to our target population.
In this initiative, we shall use an integrated approach by utilizing the available resources in the community. Experts will be invited to address issues on racism, HIV/Aids educational awareness, importance of volunteerism in the community and mentorship. The target population will then have the opportunity to gain knowledge from different areas which African Canadian Society of Alberta has identified as major obstacles to our African Canadian Immigrant population. Education nurtures people’s brains and turns them into engines of revolution in their individual heads. At the end of the project, we intend to accomplish a smooth and gradual transition to blending into the multicultural community of Canada. |
