Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation has made water resources one of its major concerns. Even the President of the Philippines, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, during a speech before an International Rotary conference, challenged all Rotary clubs in the country to make water resources as their priority. Water is one of the most important basic needs of human beings. Without it, man cannot survive.
Through this project, the school children, their teachers, their families and their communities will then have a reliable source of clean drinking water without the danger of getting sick with water-borne diseases.
The project intends to benefit eight (8) public schools without reliable and stable sources of clean potable water. The students in these schools are mostly all children of poor fishermen and farmers. The people living in the vicinity of the school will also benefit.
Each well will take about one month to construct so construction of the eight wells will take about nine to ten months. |
