The objective is to assist poor persons, particularly those with some disability, to earn their living by plying a rickshaw as a taxi, if they have no other options available. The proposed project will provide financial assistance to the extent of down payment for purchase of a rickshaw, while, the beneficiary will pay the remaining installments from his earnings. Persons with disability will be eligible if they can drive a rickshaw. There are many eligible persons in Pakistan and one of the possible reference orgnisations is Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of the Disabled (PSRD) where artificial limbs are produced on customized basis for disabled persons. The project will provide assistance to about 18 persons in Lahore and is likely to be completed in one year. |
