School Development

$20,000

Malauna School is a community school started by a local family. It is situated in Epworth which is a high density, informal settlement area, outside of Harare. It caters for 2,500 children most of whom are orphans who are taken in by care-givers, child headed family units or free range as best they can. Our Club has worked in conjunction with the Kuaba Foundation, we have built toilets and 4 x class-room shelters which are barely coping with the demand. Each class-room caters for three classess of 40 children each, classes are held in rotation during the day so called "hot-seating". The rest of the classes are held in the open - open to the elements. Some children are lucky enough to sit at desks donated by The Kuaba Foundation, the rest are on the ground. We wish to build another 10 shelters to be used as Classrooms and Staff Offices.
