Prayaas A health initiative

Kolkata and its added suburbs are having migrant population living at less than $1/per day. They do not have access to state health servics or medical insurance and often keep on living withdiseases s they cannot afford treatment.

Project Prayaas is an initiative to bridge this gap and provide free consultation and medicines to the marginalised poor through our mobile hospital . The grant funds will be utlised to procure generic medicines like iron, calcium, antimalarials,antibiotics,painkillers immunisation vccines for babies and expectant mothers.

We plan to educate the public in preventive health through street play,talk and education pamplets.

This initiative will help decrease the high maternal and infant mortality rate and willbenefit health of 200000 people.

This project has been dropped. This is probably due to the loss of contact with the Coordinating Club. Project listed for the 2010-11 Rotary Year.

The Mobile clinic is operational and seen in D1450. It has already helped 700 people so far. Local sponsors have come forward to fund the maintainence and running cost of $250 monthly.
