This grant will benefit children age 6 mos until 5 years in the district of Huehuetenango, one of the most affected areas of malnutrition in the western hemisphere. This grant will fund the second year of little vitamin bags, knows as Sprinkles (Chispitas), a proven way in may countries to significantly reduce childhood mortality and disease (see our website guatemalainitiative.com). For several dollars per child per year, the project will will benefit over 20,000 of the most affected children in this district. This project is a joint project of Rotary District 6910, District 6380, District 4250, UNICEF Guatemala (procurement), and the Guatemala Department of Health (training and distribution). We are planning to raise $20,000 in cash from district 6910, and looking for partners for the remainder $33,000.
