Livelihood - 10 Fishing Boats

$13,636

Barangay Pinagbayanan is populated by a large number of poor and subsistence fishermen. Because of the lack of boats and fishing equipment, they are barely able to earn enough money to support their families. They have to rely on primitive fishing techniques and equipment to catch fish.

This project intends to provide ten (10) completely equipped fishing boats to poor fishermen in Barangay Pinagbayanan, Calauag, Quezon. Each boat has a two-man crew so 20 heads of families will benefit from the project.

The Rotary Club of Calauag believes that it is better to teach a man to fish rather than to give him fish for a day. With these fishing boats, these poor and marginal fishermen will be given a stable source of income and instill a sense of human dignity in them, their children, and their community.

It will take 60 days to construct and equip the boats and another 15 days to distribute them. Total time required to complete the project – 75 – 90 days.
