Vehicles

$25,000

I am Byoung-rak Tak, past Governor of 3670 District in Korea.

I would like to find international partner clubs to work with clubs in D-3670 to help needy people in our district. I think it will be a great opportunity to help needy people but also to build great relationship with other Rotarians in Korea. Would you like to be our international partner?

We will need at least US$3,000 - 4,000 from international partners to proceed matching grant projects.

Project 1: The Project of Jeonju West Rotary Club.

The place of service : Volunteered neighborhood watch in Jeonju

Necessity : After public bus services finish at night, some citizens and young students are often attacked by criminals. Thus, a 'van' is needed for prevention of crime and public transportation facilities. It will really helpful for the students and citizens who go home late at night or for night patrols.

Estimated car price : KRW 24, 897,750.($22,635)

Project 2: The Project of Jeonju Jungian Rotary Club.

The place of service : The Buddhism Hall of Jeonbuk Province.

Necessity : The Buddhism Hall of Jeonbuk Province has offered free meal for 90~150 people since the 13th of July, 2001. They are senior citizens who live alone, people who skip their meals, and absolute poverty.

Also, the volunteers of the club have delivered meal boxes to those who are sick and cannot move freely. They received a car from a benefactor, but the car is so old that it does not work often. They have difficulty in delivery of meals. Thus, we would like to offer two small cars for them.

Estimated car price : KW 22,134,400.($20,123)

Project 3: The project of Iris Rotary Club and Iris Dong Rotary Club.

The Place of Service : Donggeurami (an institution for the severely-handicapped who were abandoned by their parents and societies).

Necessity : This institution is located in the suburb of Iksan city, and cares 62 severely handicapped people now. Their disability is very serious, and they cannot live alone without help. The institution has two vans now, but both are so old (about 12 years) that they are out of order very often. Thus, the institution has much difficulty in operating the system. Also, a car for the handicapped needs a medical equipment such as equipments of remedial exercise and automatic oxygen generator, but the car does not have the equipments now. Therefore, I would like to offer a ban equipped with these facilities with the help of two Rotary clubs.

Estimated car price : KW 38,420,300($34,930)
