Hearing loss detection mobile

$16,000

A high percentage among the rural population are born with hearing loss that goes undetected/treated due to lack of awareness and/or access to proper health care. This affects the language skill development and learning process in spite of the normal/above normal intelligence of these children, and lead to life long psycho-social maladjustment and alienation and stigma in the society. Our Rotary proposes to say no to deafness in these children by providing a mobile deafness detection unit, consisting of one each of Otoscope,ABR equipment,OAE test equipment, VRA & PA equipments and a van to Little Flower Hospital, Angamally (the van will be custom converted to serve also as an audio room by the hospital)to be used as mobile health service unit among the poor in the rural areas around the Cochin Airport Rotary in Kerala,India. We are seeking helping hand from one or more international clubs in this project as this is the last opportunity to do such a project before the new MG system come into effect in 2013.
