Background: In March 2012, the Mayor of Balasinesti village approached Rotary Chisinau Cosmopolitan with the request to assist the village kindergarten and village school (with over 300 pupils) with their water supply.
A delegation consisting of three club members visited the village, its school and kindergarten to perform a needs assessment. They confirmed that the village school and kindergarten lack running water. The school cantina is in disrepair and the kindergartens kitchen requires urgent renovation.
On the basis of this assessment two small-scale projects were formulated: a water project and a cantina renovation project.
Project description: This project aims to procure and install a water tower to ensure stable water pressure for the water supplied to the village school and kindergarten. The water tower will need to have a capacity of five tons.Also, the project aims to supply water to the village school and kindergarten by drilling a well and installing an electric pump. To get to safe drinking water, the well will need to be about 100 meters deep. (detailed technical description is available)
