Vission: "A South Africa without hunger and malnutrition"

Our Plan:

• In urban areas, feed people from foodbanks operating Food Rescue and Food Procurement programs

• In rural areas, eliminate hunger and create jobs by making small holder farming viable

• Everywhere, spur co-operation and efficiencies among those fighting hunger

"Roughly one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year — approximately 1.3 billion tonnes — gets lost or wasted." -- FAO, May 2011

FoodBank SA's Food Rescue program connects the world of waste to the world of want. FoodBank SA rescues food that would otherwise be lost or wasted, and gives it to those who need it most. Rescued and/or donated food which is within the expiry date period is received by the appropriate FoodBank warehouse, where branding is defaced and the food is sorted and packaged in line with the needs and specifications of the various agencies (about 1100 agencies countrywide) supported by the food bank. It costs just R1 to rescue food worth R6. By acting on behalf of such a large number of agencies, FoodBank SA achieves huge economies of scale. It cultivates food sourcing and distribution professionalism, which enables it to source and distribute massively increased volumes for agencies, at a far lower cost.

Various items of medical equipment are required. A full list can be obtained from me.

I have just spent 5 weeks in the USA visiting clubs and making presentations. If you would like to knwo more, please contact me.
