Rotary Dialysis Centre

$23,900

The grant budget will be used to buy 2 dialysis machines and the related accessories to start a Rotary Dialysis Centre in Ludhiana having a population of 3 million. There is not a single centre catering to the poor while the private centre charge very high (one Dialysis costs around US$25) which is out of the reach of the poor. We will start this centre at a charitable hospital in Ludhiana which is already running few projects sponsored by Rotary. With the start of this centre, we propose the following charges:

1.US$ 7 from the poor patients

2.US$ 12 from the rest of the community

Funds received from TRF and equipment has been ordered and expected by mid August.The building is already complete.

Scott Borden sent an e-mail to Julia Clark advising:
"The international partner will send press releases to advertize this project outside Rotary. We will stay in frequent contact by email with the host club to monitor the progress on the project. The Host partner will do the management of the project implementation, and send pictures to the international partner, including pictures of the dedication ceremony. The host partner will also send press releases and send copies of the published articles to the international partner."

Julia Clark wrote that the grant is in the process of being paid by the financial department. However, the name of the project account should read "Rotary Club Ludhiana Central Dialysis Center II."

The centre is almost complete with the Dialysis Machines having been installed and also the R O Plant. The building is being refurnished and the dedication ceremony will be held sometime this month and the project will be completed.

The centre was dedicated to the community on Nov 16, 2007 and a final audited report was prepared and sent to TRF.

Abhijit Das from TRF's South Asia office wrote that the following documents/clarifications are needed:
1. The Reports need to be audited by a licensed individual with no direct association with the project.
The Revised Financial Statements need to be re-submitted to RF(I), New Delhi.
2. RF(I), New Delhi needs clarification on the changing of the project bank account.

Abhijit Das wrote that during review, they decided that only Revised Financials duly attested by CA should be submitted and no further clarification on account of Project Bank A/C is needed.
