 Clean water availability is a big problem in many cities of Pakistan. Jhang is a 1.5 million populated city and its water contains high salt contents, more than 1500 PPM in most of the parts of the city, which is dangerous to drink according to WHO standards.
Pure water is necessary for life because clean water saves lives. Clean water project of Rotary Club of Jhang Sadar addresses the most common water problem that is the excess of salts and microbes, which can be removed by filtration and radiation (UV). Five water filtration plants with the capacity of 10,000 liters per hour will be installed in different parts of the city to provide clean water to the poor community of the city.
About 20,000 to 25,000 persons will get benefit from these five clean water filtration plants daily.
Water samples have been collected and analyzed from different labs of Pakistan and places have been chosen where water with reasonably low dissolved salts are available (Total dissolved salts less than 500 PPM). Homework for the installation of the filtration plants has been completed. The project will be completed within ten months after the receipt of grant money. |
