Activity Type:
Community Development: Volunteer Services
Summary: Funds to bring in an instructor from the Dallas Bass for the Harmony Bridge concept to teach to the students and parents on the process.
#1 priority request for district grants: The Harmony Bridge is affiliated with the Dallas Brass. It attempts to unite students, parents, adults, and the elderly through quality music performances. Students not only perform for the elderly, but also learn how to interact and bring volunteer service to increase their level of important community service. It will develop young middle school age students into wanting to purse community service as an adult after graduation. This one time fee of $7500 from the community covers all expenses such as music for a wide variety of instruments and outlines how the students and parents organize the performances. It also includes the on-site training from the Dallas Brass instructor who created this program so that it will be successful year after year. The local Kiwanis clubs are contributing $3500 and the Kearney Noon Rotary Club is requesting funds to support the Dallas Brass instructor's fee to come as a guest artist and work with the students and parents to get the project started. We believe the Kearney Dawn Club is requesting funds to support the purchase of music books. One of our Rotarians in our Kearney Noon Rotary Club was very involved in the music program at the public high school as a parent and has been our connection to this proposed project. This project is for middle school age students.
