Project Description Country: USA Location: Camp Joy Total Budget: $2,200 Area of Focus: Economic and community development Activity Type: Community Development: General Summary: Recreation Equipment for Camp Joy located in Harlan County, Nebraska for kids ages 5-16. Camp Joy is a summer camp located 5 miles east of Alma Nebraska and has held camps for kids since the late 1960's. There are several sessions of campers and have kids from 5 to 16 years of age. Young people from all over the state of Nebraska attend the camps every year and the leadership work on a limited budget. The playground equipment is quite outdated and needs to be replaced. We would like to propose a set of two swings or a type of playground equipment and the rubber mulch as our project. This project will allow us to be on site, assemble and set the equipment up. This would easily involve at least 6 members of the club or more. This will give our club the ability to build a relationship with the campers and directors and share with them what Rotary is all about. We hope to work side by side with the camp board to help them achieve playground goals they may have. We would plan to have this project completed by the end of June this year. Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed) A check for $1,000 has been received and deposited into our grant fund. The camp board is still looking at addition playground equipment and then will determine where they would like the swing set to be located. We are waiting on the camp board to decide where they would like the swing located. 2-Apr-18 by Don Ehrke The project has been delayed only due to the fact the camp joy board had to reconsider what type of playground equipment they could budget and the swing set would be included in the project. Due to a public camp, specific specs are required.
