Summary: To promote reading to newborns, infants and toddlers


This initiative was started by the "1000 Books Foundation", a non-profit, public charity. The objective is to promote reading to newborns, infants and toddlers. The Clearview Library District has adopted this program for the Windsor/Severance communities. This program is to encourage parent and child bonding through reading. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to read 1000 books with their child before kindergarten. Children will receive books, prizes (encouragement. The participation goal is estimated at 1657 children at a cost of $21.00 per child. This includes the cost of books ($3/book, 6 books per child)

and supporting prizes. The initial Phase 1 for the program is estimated to cost $6,951 for 331 children.

The Library is continuing this program into 2019 in order to reach the original goal. More items have been purchased to replenish the original stock which was given to participants. and receipts will be submitted to the Windsor Club. Children are actively participating in the program and are on their way to be finishers.
