Summary: Project to provide bicycles to children in lower socioeconomic section of Scottsdale and Phoenix
A combination of bicycles, tricycles, scooters and helmets will be donated to the holiday program at the City of Scottdale's Vista del Camino Community Center. The specific items to be purchased will be determined with input from VDC staff members based on the needs of the families that have been screened and selected to participate in the program. Twenty-five to 30 children of Scottdale families in need who financially qualify to receive the bicycles will benefit from the program. Fifteen to twenty club members will participate in assembling the bicycles with the assistance of people who work in bike shops and the Scottsdale bike patrol officers. This program has been conducted for the past 4 year and has been very much appreciated by the VDC community and the children receiving the bikes.
