Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Fullerton

Total Budget: $10,000

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Literacy

Summary: Underserved students will be equipped with technology and digital tools essential for college and career. Today's college bound student must have a proficient knowledge of technology if they are to succeed in junior college or at the university level.

Five to ten Rotarians will deliver Chrome Books on College Bound Night. The Club President and Club Sponsor will be part of our Panel of Professionals, a month long series, geared toward exposing high school students to STEM and STEAM professions. In addition, other Rotary club members will place Rotary decals on Chrome Books.

Nearly 40 high schools students from one of Fullerton's lowest income neighborhood will benefit from being computer and technologically literate. All students in JOYA Scholars' college readiness program qualify for federal free and reduced lunch assistance. By investing in technology, these college bound students will have access to such as digital learning tools such as Khan Academy and Quizlet.
