Project Description Country: USA Location: Peoria, Arizona Total Budget: $1,500 Area of Focus: None Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Provide water safety information and books to families with pre-school aged children in the Peoria, AZ area The purpose of the project is to reduce the number of child drownings and water-related injuries. Rotarians will distribute "Josh the Baby Otter" books and companion music CDs to families with small children to educate and promote safety around water. Distributions will take place where small children and their families gather, such as: day care centers, schools, community events, etc. The members of the Peoria Rotary Club and the Rotary e-Club of Arizona will don an Otter suit and distribute the information during the 2017-18 Rotary year. The funds will be used to purchase the books/cds, and to label them. We believe educating families and their small children is essential to lowering the incidence of child drownings and water-related injuries in our community.
