Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Anaheim, CA

Total Budget: $4,069

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: General

Summary: Purchase and fill 150 back packs with school supplies for the neediest of children in the Anaheim and Magnolia elemtary school districts.

Back Pack School Supplies project: This is a community service project for school children from low-income families. These new backpacks loaded with school supplies will alleviate some of the peer pressure experienced by these children. Too many children in our community are falling behind in school and life before they even get started. This will help them with their self-esteem, creativity and confidence.

Every member in the club will be involved by either purchasing or donating the back packs and supplies, filling the back packs, writing personal notes of encouragement and finally distributing the backpacks to the children. Club members will be wearing their Rotary shirts and vests when working on this project.

The School back pack program will begin on or about September 1, 2017 and should end by September 15, 2017 or as soon thereafter when the grant has been approved.

In addition to putting this story on the Rotary Club of Anaheim's Facebook Page and Web Site, and the Anaheim YMCA's and Anaheim Boys & Girls Club websites. We will also send the story and pictures to promote the Rotary Cub of Anaheim and our community project to Coast Kids, Coast Magazine, Orange County Registers, OC Weekly and the Fullerton News Tribune.

This is an on-going annual project administered and match funded by the Rotary Club of Anaheim. This will be implemented again in August-September 2018 for the Fall semester of both the Magnolia and Anaheim Elementary School Districts. We hope to provide at least 200 backpacks containing school supplies for students. By seeking donations of school supplies as well as funding to purchase other needed supplies, we will assist in our endeavor to provide service to the lessor affluent in our city

This keeps coming up as not completed.

Is there something we haven't done yet to complete the process?
