Project Description Country: USA Location: La Mesa Total Budget: $4,500 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Essay contest provides new bikes and helmets for 3rd grades in Title 1 school The La Mesa Rotary Club of California will be partnering with an org called Bikes for Kids. We will purchase bikes and helmets at $45 ea X 100 =$4500. We will need 2 rotarians to pick up bikes, then assembled at one our members businesses. Last year we used 40 volunteers, interact students and friends to assembly the bikes. Bikes will be stored in a container until delivered to the selected school.On the day of the bike give away bikes will be delivered to the school and have the essay contest.The students and teachers think there is only one winner but actually ever student who wrote an essay will receive a bike. This project will be completed during the month of December 2017. We will have a better idea one the year starts. The school will be a Title one school.
