Project Description Country: USA Location: Mesa AZ Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: None Activity Type: Community Development: General Summary: To provide physical fitness and training on life skills. Mesa Sunrise members will provide training and purchase classroom material and host a dinner for a Graduation dinner for young children and their parents taking part. The project is a 9 week course for youth ages 11 to 14 run by the Mesa Police Department which involves physical fitness; training on life skills and mandatory Parent participation on parenting skills. The program is run by Mesa Public schools, Mesa Fire Department, Mesa Police Department and the Phoenix Suns organization. The program is geared toward changing behavior by focusing the student to change behavior by providing a structure and discipline in a positive environment. At risk students are selected by the school for this program. At the end of the 9 week program a graduation dinner is held. This is a etiquette dinner requiring the students to dress up and understand how to manage themselves in this setting.
