This application is for a District 5440 Centennial Matching Grant. In the summer of 2017, the City of Casper affiliate Keep Casper Beautiful created an interpretive nature trail near the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center. The trail provides visitors and residents a unique way to explore natural landscape. Interpretive signage on native vegetation and landscape has been included. Many area schools and visitor groups use the Historic Trails Center and its surrounding facilities as an educational venue.
Keep Casper Beautiful has sought assistance from the Five Trails Rotary Club to develop a much needed outdoor classroom gazebo style sheltered space. The shelter is planned to be located along the new nature trail pathway with a wonderful view of Casper.
The budget for shelter, a concrete slab foundation and two picnic tables is estimated at $10,500. Rotarians would provide funding and labor to purchase materials, construct the shelter and install the purchased tables. It is estimated that 25 Rotarians would be involved in the project.
Funding would be from the following sources:
Five Trails Rotary Club and associated donors: $7,000
District 5440 Centennial Grant: $1,000
District 5440 2016-17 Centennial Project Award funding: $2,500
Total: $10,500
Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)
We have been unable to coordinate with the City of Casper on the gazebo. Casper Five Trails hopes to amend this grant to a request for 4 Gutter Bins to catch trash before it pollutes the North Platte River. The board has opted for the highest impact gutter bins so we will be using existing grates(not creating Rotary grates) in 4 locations in Casper. Costs for the bins are: 4 Eco Drop Inlet Gutter Bins at $680 each = $2,720.00; 4 Combo Inlet Diverters at $60 each = $240.00;4 Mundus Hoops at $25 each=$100.00;12 Mundus bags at $75 each=$900.00;Installation at $100.00 each=$400.00;Rotary Discount 18%=-$550.80;Sales tax=$190.46;Total project = $3,999.66
$2500 - Centennial Award; $1000 Centennial grant; $500 club funds
Rotarians will assist with bag cleaning and replacement as a Community Service project 4 times per year
