Project Description Country: USA Location: La Jolla Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: Community economic development Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: This grant would provide 1,000 underserved San Diego students with the joy of live youth theater. I am applying for a Rotary District Grant to be awarded to the JCompany Youth Theaters "Random Acts of Culture" program. This grant would again provide underserved San Diego students with the joy of live youth theater. I have personally witnessed how the exposure to Youth Theater can change a child's life. Many of these students have never seen a live play much less a play that was performed by youths or children their own age. The students are then encouraged to participate in any upcoming shows and all are welcome with open arms. I am applying for a partial Random Acts of Culture sponsorship in the amount of $2,000 underwriting a portion theater - approximately 250 seats, or 1,000 students, which includes 4 different shows. The La Jolla Sunrise portion of this grant would be $1,000. This amount would go a long way to bringing theater to underserved San Diego youth and their families.
