Buffalo County Nebraska has a poverty rate of 13.1% which is above the state average of 12.6%. The household incomes among these folks is at or below 138% of federal poverty level. Many of these families do not have the income to buy the necessary school materials for their children.
The aim of this project is to help the Children from such families to succeed in their education, Improve their odds of going on to college, and better their lives & their family's. Literacy reduces dependence on federal and state social services.
Additionally the project aims to collaborate with other nonprofits in the area such as Kiwanis and Carly literacy Council. The project will require Rotarians to provide more than just financial help. It will require the club Rotarians to put in their sweat equity by filling bags and delivering them to Identified children from low income families.
