We would use that amount to sponsor mural competitions at the Freedom House women's rehab center and the four Soldotna area secondary schools and work in the schools to help the students develop their skills.
From each school and from Freedom House, we would choose one final mural design, award that person a $150 cash prize and then turn that mural design into a final high quality 4'x8' aluminum mural that could be mounted outside or inside on a permanent basis. We have already done 8 such murals paid by businesses and hung them a few years ago.
This would result in five permanent displays of art by students at those schools, with Rotary prominently identified.
It would fit very well with our prior Rotary mural project that resulted in the Kenai Airport large mural and 8 smaller murals also part of our 2015 public art project. That public art project was presented as a Rotary project in October 2015 as an invited presentation to an international circumpolar public art conference hosted at UAA - Anchorage that year.
