Summary: Purchase kitchen appliances and tools for a Rotary built and run school in a very poor neighborhood in the city of Lauro de Freitas, Bahia State, Brazil.

Quingoma it is located in the old part of the urban area of Lauro de Freitas, where the population it is about 3500. Quingoma is a ethnic group that traveled from Africa to Brazil. The group that immigrated from Africa was very small, when arrived they worked in the fields as slaves, between the centuries of 1800 - 1900. Today the population is still very poor and has great need for early childhood and family education.

In 1987 the Lauro de Freitas Rotary Club started the construction of the preschool in a very poor neighborhood. The school was open in September of 2000. Initially, three classrooms, one small kitchen, three restrooms, and one small meeting room composed the school. The Rotary Quingoma School cares for 110 kids between 2 and 3 years old in the daycare and 4 and 5 years old in preschool. The school also assists 80 low-income families and provides dental and medical care for the people in the area.

In March of 2018, Rotary Club the decided to buy the land behind the school, where they built three more classrooms, one big kitchen and four male and female restrooms. This project will help meet the increasing population of kids in the daycare, and the kitchen will supply every child with four meals per day. This expansion is in the finishing stages and awaits appliances and equipment to be able to start functioning as a kitchen for the students.

Funds will be used to purchase the following appliances and equipment up to the amount of this grant. If the cost of these appliances exceeds $6130, the Lauro de Freitas Rotary Club will be responsible for raising additional funds:
