Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Chula Vista

Total Budget: $2,500

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: General

Summary: Heart for Arts helps support Visual and Performing Arts in local schools by showcasing student performers at our club’s annual community event.

Of the 86 arts teachers currently employed by CVESD, 60% have been in the classroom less than three years. This means such teachers in particular need additional opportunities for professional growth and development. The result of this Rotary Project Grant is that arts instruction district-wide would be strengthen and enhanced, and individual schools would receive instruments for their new Mariachi programs.Funds are needed to provide arts teachers with the professional development necessary to

strengthen and enhance arts instruction, while also helping individual schools in need of additional arts supplies and equipment. The Hearts for Arts event itself provides an opportunity to showcase student performers; Rotary members in turn have the opportunity to stage a community event with broad appeal--meeting our stated goal of "Doing good in the community, doing good in the world." Our club will host an event and donate the grant monty to the Chula Vista Elementary School District's Visual and Performing Arts

Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)
