Project Description Country: USA Location: Denton TX Total Budget: $3,470 Areas of Focus: Maternal and child health, Economic and community development Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Each year, Denton Rotary Club holds an annual adoption fair in conjunction with CPS, child protective services to help introduce children in the foster care system to prospective adoptive parents. A local school is rented and pizza and fun are provided. The need identified is to place children in the Denton area in the foster care program of the local CPS, Child Protective Services in to a permanent home with loving adoptive parents. The club has sponsored the project for the five to six years now and CPS can disclose to us that it has been very successful. For privacy reasons, they do not reveal the exact number of children or the names of the children or parents that are a success as a result. Rotary Clubs are the only organizations allowed to participate in this type of event. The funds are used for the rental of the school, provide pizza and snacks, and games and prizes for the children. Club members are involved volunteering at the event after a successful background check and raising funds through flag sales and donations. Other local clubs have also sent volunteers to help.
