Project Description Country: El Salvador Location: Molagrosa Total Budget: $2,800 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Food for Medical Services. The funds requested will be used to purchase upwards of 5 tons of rice and beans. The Del Mar Solana Beach Rotary Club has been supporting for many years a multi-faceted project in El Salvador. The Club has provided medical supplies, funds for building and renovating facilities, school supplies, food as well as equipment. One of the unique needs is for medical treatment and wellness concerns of the people they serve. Many of them do not want to avail themselves of medical services or are fearful of established medical practices. In another word, they refuse to visit the free medical clinic in Molagrosa. The leaders at the medical clinic realize that if they can provide free food, not only when they visit the medical facility, but also take some food back to their homes, this would encourage more people to come to the clinic. This has created a need for the clinic to purchase large quantities of rice and beans for cooking and distribution to those coming to the medical clinic. The funds requested will be used to purchase upwards of 5 tons of rice and beans.
