Laptops are needed in an on-going free one-on-one tutoring program for grades three through eight in a summer Math Camp and also throughout the school year, with free weekly tutoring provided from volunteers. Significant scholastic improvement for over 90% of the students has been sustained for 13 years, using a pre-course math test compared to the same test administered at the end of the camp. There is no deadline time frame for the computers.
This past two weeks, two Rotarians from Arlington West Rotary Club worked 8 days during the summer Math Camp, putting in approximately 100 hours of service. These same two Rotarians serve on the HOPE Board of Directors and HOPE Advisory Board, making this grant exemplary financial support of active community Rotarian Service Above Self.
Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)
Computers were not needed at the time of this grant. So materials were provided for a math, history, and music summer camp.
