Summary: Two benches located on the shore of the Hudson River, Verplanck, NY


The benches will provide an opportunity for the community and visitors to reflect on the historical nature and importance of this location where General George Washington commanded the Continental Army in its fight against the British at Verplanck Point and Stony Point on the North River, now known as the Hudson River. The project funds would be used for obtaining and installing the benches. Club members will be involved by arranging a dedication of the benches which will include a Reenactment. This project will be completed by April 2020.

Addendum- Due to Covid-19, the dedication and re-enactment will be removed until a later date.

November 20,2019. Meet with town officials to determine placement for benches. Town will get back to the club on which style bench is best suited to match existing benches.

The benches have been received and sites for placement chosen. The Town of Cortlandt will be constructing and securing benches on sites. The dedication ceremony is scheduled for May 2,2020. Unfortunately because of covid-19, it is on hold at this time.
