Summary: Provide ADA-accessible drinking fountain at trail head of new pedestrian park in Meridian


This project is to install a drinking fountain at the trail head of a new pedestrian park in Meridian that will be accessible to anyone on foot, on a bike, or using a wheelchair. The drinking fountain will have three access points to serve all abilities and designed to meet ADA requirements. The park and trail system is located in a currently under-served part of the community. Rotarians are involved in the following ways: 1. In the planning phase with Mike Barton and the City Parks planning committee (time in meetings); 2. in choosing and purchasing the drinking fountain (quote attached) 3. Directly installing the foundation with the parks dpt supervision; 4. installing the recognition plaque in the concrete near the drinking fountain with the parks dpt supervision; and 5. planning and delivering an open house at the pedestrian park trail head. We will provide Rotary club and Rotary Foundation recognition on the fountain.

Drinking fountain was purchased; the Rotary recognition plaque was designed and completed. Both items were delivered to the City of Meridian Parks & Recreation for storage. Installation and water hook-up will occur when weather warms up to appropriate temperatures.
