Total Budget: $5,500

Areas of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene, Basic education and literacy, Community economic development

Summary: “Food Gardening - Empowering those in need, with the tools to succeed”. Benefit the entire community, by transforming 4000sf of underutilized ground, into highly productive and educational raised bed gardens, at the Orange County Great Park Farm & Food Lab

Solution For Urban Agriculture's mission statement is "Growing nutritious food, to sustain healthy communities". They have approached solving food insecurity through collaborative efforts with local food banks, farmers, chefs and other non-profits and entities. They need our help! Our goal is to enhance the educational experience at the 1 1/3rd acre outdoor education center, by transforming 4000sf of underutilized ground, into highly productive and educational raised bed gardens. This will not only allow for the hands on education of the general public and elementary school tours, but will also generate an incredible amount of nutrient dense produce, for the local food bank.

The funds will be used to buy soil amendment, soil nutrients, seeds and hand tools. This system does not require automatic irrigation, lumber for planters, or other nonessential supplies.

Timeline: July 01, 2020 - June 30, 2021

Our club members will assist in delivering supplies to the farm, building of the raised bed gardens and planting of seeds.
