Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Lander, WY

Total Budget: $5,250

Area of Focus: Community economic development

Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: General

Summary: Lander

The Lander Care & Share Food Bank in Lander, WY has been overwhelmed by requests for food due to people losing their jobs during the pandemic. The Lander Care & Share Food Bank will have to purchase additional food to cover these additional requests. Additionally, The Lander Community Foundation, which the Lander Rotary Club started over a decade ago is also providing COVID-19 relief to local businesses who had had to close or drastically reduce their operations during the COVID shutdown. This project grants a total of $5,250 to be evenly spilt between the Lander Care & Share Food Bank and the Lander Community Foundation's COVID-19 Relief Fund.

As this is the first grant the Lander club has applied for in some time, we will have a presentation to be conducted at one of our Wednesday lunch meetings on the grant request process and also why we're applying for this specific grant. Rotarians will be offered the chance to be present for the presentations of the checks to the Lander Food Bank and to the Lander Community Foundation. Additionally, every effort will be made to publicize the Lander Rotary Club's donations to bot of these organizations.

John,

All district grants must have a Rotarian involvement component. I know this is harder with Covid grants but it still must be part of the grant. This can be completed in various ways. It could be things like using a video conference to help with planning, having the recipients participate in a zoom call to update the club on the project, putting together an article on the project for the district newsletter, visiting the project for a followup inspection, having people from the project do a presentation to their club, etc.

John,

The club needs to have a per capita minimum of $50 in order to qualify for the lowest level of up to $3,500. The Lander club's per capita for foundation giving as of 6/1/2020 was $37.43. The club needs to be at a $50 per capita level by 6-30-20 to qualify.

Also the match is 2-1 DDF vs club. In the financing the cash needs to be Lander and at $700 only $1,400 DDF can be entered. If you want to use the full $3,500 the Lander clubs portion would need to be $1,750.

John,

You need to have two people sign off on this project. Usually it is the person that manages the project and the President. If that is the same person you can add your Past President or President elect or someone else from the board. I'm going to cancel your signature process so you can add another person and than just start it again.

The Lander Rotary Club will be presenting a check in the amount of $2,625 to the Lander Community Foundation COVID-19 Relief fund on Thursday, September 24th at 12:30 PM in Centennial Park in Lander on Main Street.

At that same event, we will also be presenting another check in the same amount to the Lander Care & Share Food Bank.

At least two local media outlets (County10.com and Wyotoday.com) will be present to take pictures, hopefully, write stories about our club and this project. We are hopeful one or two other media outlets will also be present.

The entire Lander Rotary Club will also be invited to take part in the check presentation ceremony.

I will report back with any pictures of the evnt I get as well as any links to any news stories published about the event.

In order to close out the grant you need to complete the final report and supply copies of receipts or checks totalling the project total. The Final grant form can be found on the District website.

Thanks for completeing the final report. I still need you to upload a copy of the check(s) the club wrote that totals the grant total.

The checks were given away yesterday and I hadn't photocopied them. I have sent an email to both parties and asked them to make a copy and send them to me. Hopefully, they haven't deposited them yet.

If they did deposit them, what should I do?
