Project Description Country: USA Location: Gillette, Wyoming 82716 Total Budget: $7,000 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Activity Type: Health: Disease Summary: Provide assistance to local non-profit affected by COVID-19 by providing Vaccinations for Influenza Prevention One area that continues to be of major concern during the COVID-19 pandemic is the prospect of elementary and secondary school students in Campbell County School District not having access to basic influenza shots during the 2020-2021 school year. All non-profits in Gillette, Wyoming as in the rest of the country and the world have been struck by loss of donations and contributions, and the loss of health care employees and facilities. In the past the Campbell County Health Foundation has organized the process for the inoculation of of approximately 2500 kindergarten through grade 12 students within the school district. The CCHCF has partnered with the school district, the City and County of Gillette,Campbell County Wyoming and various other contributors to fund this endeavor,both financially and in-kind. The Center for Disease Prevention and Control recommends a yearly flu vaccination as the first and most important step in protecting against flu and it's potentially serious complications. Rotarians will assist the school counselors and nurses in organizing and conducting the vaccination process. Students will be given a "Rotary" sticker to wear after they have the shot. Parental permissions is, of course, a factor in the process.
