The Family Resource Center of McCook has been open since 1996. The FRC services parents, children, and entire families in the southwest Nebraska area by providing support, information, books, food, clothing, school supplies, referrals to other agencies, assistance with Christmas gifts, support to foster families, provides hygiene products and other miscellaneous daily support that families need. What is needed and they can provide, they will. Last year nearly 800 people participated in the children's clothing exchanges, 54 families were served in the winder clothing giveaway, 140 children received school supplies, 41 foster families were served, 50 families received free food, baby food, and formula, 90 families received free books, 80 families received hygiene products, the list goes on...
The FRC operating budget is $42,000 and most of the funds are donated and received by grants in order for them to provide the service in need in the area. The McCook Rotary Club would like to 1) assist with the FRC utility bills from September 2020 to March 2021, 2) with any left over funds go shopping for families in need, purchasing books and hygiene supplies, and 3) serve the FRC by donating at least 40 hours of time at the Center, doing whatever is needed at the time. This pledge is extremely important to assist in keeping the center open for the upcoming year. As utility bills rise, it is harder for the center to find the money they need. In addition, donating our service of at least 40 hours of volunteerism is priceless.
