A local coffee shop owned by a native to City Heights was holding community events; free-of-charge, outside before the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing restrictions were put into place. Since the space is outdoors, it allows for social distancing. A large portion of the outdoor space used for community events is in direct sunlight. This grant would go toward purchasing multiple canopies, the materials to support the canopies, painting supplies, a weed barrier, and gravel.
The City Heights Rotoract Club has a community service event planned on August 22nd. During this event, our members plan to trim overgrown plants, remove waste, install a weed barrier, place the gravel, prep exterior walls for paint, paint, and install the canopies.
The City Heights Rotoract Club believes that community space that Cafeina shop provides free-of-charge to users fosters the growth of young leaders in the neighborhood it resides in. Our club also believes that making these improvements will improve the quality and quantity of youth involvement in City Heights, improving the welfare of the community.
