Kootenai Valley Rotarians (MT), in coop with Port Authority (PA) and private donations, will purchase and install several benches and picnic tables surrounding the community kids' fishing pond. As described by the PA mission "...[to] attract and develop business investment for the purpose of increasing private investment, job creation, and allow for further diversification of the regional economy and tax base." The project further enhances the park area and provides recreation, visitor use and economic benefits.
In general, building parks and recreation areas increases property values, increases municipal revenue, encourages exercise and reduces air pollution as well as providing a venue to host events. The Port Authority recreation area also houses a motocross track, an RC car track, and a pavilion, thus becoming a hub of recreation activity and economic attraction.
The PA area has involved city, county and state resources and prior Rotary work projects. Rotarians will donate labour and PA will contribute heavy equipment. Private individual will contribute an additional $1500.00 ($4500 total budget)
