Project Description Country: USA Location: Oak Park, IL Total Budget: $3,025 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Scholarship Summary: Provide college scholarships to students demonstrating outstanding commitment to community and global servce We intend to use the grant to fund two service-oriented scholarships for local teens graduating high school and entering college in the fall of 2021. Our scholarships are reviewed by a team of Rotarians and presented at our Awards Breakfast in May 2021. Recipients are chosen based on their proven commitment to the Rotarian ideal of service above self. In addition to scholarship awards of $1,500 each, we like to provide commemorative certificates, which cost about $25 to produce and present. We will get copies of the checks in August 2022 at the earliest. Per the community foundation: "We have not paid the students yet....scholarship checks will not be mailed until July. They should clear sometime in August. Will show on your Sept 30 statement.
